2024 Acer Swift Go – GREAT Battery life + Good Performance!

Acer Swift Go :

acer-swift-go-14

This is the Acer Swift go, and it happens to be the second meteor L laptop I’ve had in the studio.

Now this one comes with exactly the same processor as the book Under Sun that I reviewed not so long ago, it is the Intel Core Ultra 755h and if you want to know what has changed with metor Lake.

This is the fastest laptop on the market now, no Intel has finally caught up, they haven’t really outperformed everyone, but they are now in the same kind of field, there are some things about these new medor Lake processors, which are not as good as the M series, or even the AMD ones.

But at least it can compete now, and that’s the good news now if you’re talking about performance, single-core clock speeds have taken a nerve this year.

In fact, they are slower than last year’s pseries processor, and even the American series processor, but the multi-course speeds have picked up, a little boost and it’s up there.

Now that it plays in the same field, as the 7,000 series, and probably AMD’s 8,000 series.

The MacBook Pro, with M3 is always faster, it’s more in line with the M2, but if you talk about creative work, it’s still a Macbook world as if you were taking something like Photoshop for example.

The MacBook Pro M3, has completely dusted off AMD, and Intel when it comes to performance as don’t get me wrong, it’s a good boost from last year, but the media encoders provide just such a good boost, for the MacBook, the same goes with Premier Pro.

In fact, I could even ask Premier Pro to render a file on the Acer Swift go, and the Asus Zenbook, and I consider this an Adobe problem because I had no problem, to run Da Vinci resolve on these two laptops.

Now, the performance on this is good in Da Vinci resolve, but the AMD 13 framework did a little better, then the MacBook Pro 14 with M3 made the file faster if you are a developer, it’s kind of the same story that an AMD MacBook, is probably better just because the PROCESSOR performance, can be maintained for longer.

While these Intel laptops, tend to slow things down obviously to keep it cooler and with that you just have longer compile times.

Now, you say well what the advantage is, so if he continues to like to match or lose to these laptops, two other platforms, everything comes together as for one.

The integrated GPU got the biggest bump, of all like this is now an integrated GPU, which competes with the RX 7800 m in some cases it actually beats it and in other cases it binds it just depends on the application, which you use as I did a 3D brand time spy, it worked very well, it was up there with the Asus nbook 14, which I just reviewed recently, and if you take a game like shadow of the Tomb Raider, it was neck and neck with the RX 7800 M.

But there is always fan noise, like if you put this guy on, the performance mode goes up to 55 DB, which is really noisy for such a thin laptop, but if you switch it to normal mode, it will reduce the fan noise to about 45.

Then if you reduce it to silent mode, it will obviously be less than 40.

Now the good news is that you get much better performance on the battery, so if you are not plugged into the wall and you have to work, you will get about 90 to 95% of the performance, which we have not seen at all on an Intel laptop, so it is good news if you want to enjoy using your laptop, on the plane and also get optimal performance.

The other thing that comes with these laptops, are brand new MPUs and at the moment there is not a lot of software that uses artificial intelligence, but there are some things that you can check, where you can blur the background, you can have an automatic framing where the camera actually follows you, but the coolest thing is the microphones.

Because it does a better job of reducing background noise, like listening to this example and seeing how it completely cuts off the hair dryer so, that the Acer Swift go, actually has a QHD webcam and this it looks so much better than the Zenbook 13, which I tested a few days ago usually.

This light was completely blowing my face off, but this camera handles it pretty well, so at the moment I don’t have a hair dryer running, I want to see if it does the same thing, where it completely reduces the sound of the hair dryer using AI.

So now, as you can see, I have a hairdryer behind my back, you know how the microphone always sounds, all the AI features are activated, can you hear me clearly, you should hear the hairdryer, but it should be significantly lower.

Now, the laptop itself is probably not my favorite for this price, as 999 with this type of specifications is probably not the best deal, you are probably playing mainly for this meteor Lake processor, like for example, I just went like this to keep it clean and the sticker, got stuck in my sweater and completely ripped off.

So it’s a little not beautiful so far, the top of the lid is a little squishy, it’s an aluminum alloy, but when you take it, it looks a lot like plastic, just because they’re trying to reduce weight, I wish Acer would put a little more R&D, in their design, I feel like their laptops look very bland and especially now, given that there are so many laptops to choose from.

They kind of need to stand out, I’m not saying to go crazy and put red and RGB everywhere, but to try stuff that you know, like Asus puts the lines and they let you know about the ceramic covers, and all that kind of stuff that they try to stick it looks like you know I bought this on eBay, then put the processor inside, you have a lot of ports, which is the good news two Thunderbolt ports four HDMI 2.1 ports, USB 3.2.

Then on the other side, you have your Kensington lock, another USB port, your audio jack combo, and a Micro SD card opening the card is now very easy, you can do it with one hand, the bottom lifts up a bit like the Ergo hinge of a susa, so that you get a better airflow.

I don’t know, if you can hear this, but the fans are already kicking the keyboard, it’s okay it’s not the best keepy but like look at this Flex cover, like this thing goes down to the very bottom, it’s super soft even if the keys are clickable.

I’m just worried about longevity, typing on this thing is just a little too soft, for my Intel Evo sticker needs.

So there are certain requirements, for this laptop that must be met touchpad, is bigger this year compared to the previous Acer Swift go, but it is a glass touchpad linked to the ocean that’s what Acer calls it, it’s not glass it’s plastic and I don’t like that.

Because it somehow deceives, the person who buys this laptop, and looks at the touchpad on it, it’s not great, like if you move your finger on a plastic touchpad.

It won’t be a good user experience, the other thing I don’t like and it’s very minor is this wallpaper like every time, that I move my mouse, this guy’s head deforms and it will just give you motion sickness.

After having to watch this for a very long time, fortunately, you can change that the display is correct as it is 1920 x 1200, it is only 60 HZ, it IPS the color gamut is pretty good the screen, the brightness is you know above average, but the color accuracy on this screen is pretty horrible, like a Delta average of five is pretty bad.

I would like to keep it below two the good news is that you have a 1440p webcam, and obviously you saw the quality when I did my microphone test, it’s actually really much much better than the webcam, on the assus Zenbook 14 black bell, around the top these are obviously plastic.

But yes you know as it is a very economical laptop for its price, I feel like it should be like $799, like they have a Bell 799 version of this, but you go down to an Intel Core Ultra 5 and a little less Ram like 8 GB of RAM.

And even then I don’t think it’s worth it, it should cost 7.99 and not 9.99, I feel like it’s a better price.

The speakers are at the bottom of the laptop, the sound quality is not so excellent there is no base, there is no depth for them, they are very tinny.

But yes they produce sound, in fact it’s pretty crazy that my smartphone produces a better sound than the speakers of a laptop.

Now the internal components are a little better than the Asus Zenbook 14, reviewed a few days ago, they actually have two copper heat pipes, with two fans that help with cooling.

But obviously, because of this, you’re going to have a louder fan noise, the Ram is completely soldered to the motherboard, that’s where you have a swappable Wi-Fi 6E card, and then you have a slot for an mvme SSD, which you can obviously swap for something bigger.

The battery size is 65 hours, and I actually have a very good battery life with these 13 hours and 19 minutes, before I have to charge it, to give you a more realistic approach to battery life.

If you are doing something hardcore like you are taxing the processor nonstop, you will have about 3 to 4 hours of use, before you have to recharge the idle time on meteor Lake.

In general really good as very good things, as I don’t feel nervous if I don’t turn off my laptop, I know that it will be in the same place after I open it again, and start using it, and if you are someone who just does as you know browsing the net typing in Microsoft Office, the battery life will be 8 hours, so much better than previous generations.

So, it’s pretty much in line in terms of performance with the assus nbook 14, which I tested and it’s a little more consistent in terms of performance simply because of the better cooling solution, but the laptop itself seems a little cheap for $9.99.

You know, like if they reduced it to 7.99, I would be more open to recommending it, but there are a little too many sacrifices, the display is not accurate in color, it seems a little cheap, the touchpad is made of plastic, which is unfortunate, there are a lot of small bent parts and just like little things, like the QC on these stickers, that just come off by doing this kind of thing worries me.

Conclusion :

But, in terms of raw performance, Acer has done a pretty good job.
