Which Onn Streaming box should you buy in 2024 ?

Onn Streaming box (Onn pro vs. Stick vs. 4K box) :

Onn-streaming-box

I spent way too much time comparing the ONN streaming box, the Fire Sticks, and the chomecast TVs.

But now that there are three models, there is a legitimate question to ask yourself, which one really gives you the most value, and after having tested the Pro box.

This is a serious question, especially with the increase in price, today we are going to go over everything you need to know about these differences, what makes one better than the other, and the last question of which one has the best value for money.

First we have to talk about performance, starting with the processor, and the GPU in the ONN stick, and the 4K box, and both include a quad core chip, and the same GPU where the box comes with an updated processor, but it is outdated when you look at the rest of the market.

So if it’s solid, but it’s still nothing new, so we have two storage sizes to choose from, among the two discounted devices, include 8 GB of storage, where when you opt for the pro model.

You get a huge upgrade, actually four times more to 32 GB, and the fact that these two discounted devices, include 8 GB of storage, not including USB ports, means you really can’t use external storage, unless you get an adapter that simply gives the overall advantage to the ONN Pro box.

You also see a similar pattern in the Ram where you get 1 five with the stick, you get two with the 4K processor.

And then you get three with the ONN Pro box, the ow and the stick only offer you 1080p, where both cases will offer you up to ultra 4K resolution.

The Box offers a full-size Ethernet port, and also Wi-Fi 6 for the pro model.

Now despite the major increases, which we are seeing with the ONN Pro box, this has not necessarily led for performance, you can see that the CPU and GPU, the tests carried out by AFV news, on the ONN 4K Pro box, have not experienced a major increase, compared to the box or the stick of previous models.

Now for personal use, although I will say that the box Pro, works easier, there is no doubt, that it is a more powerful device.

But one thing that really distinguishes these devices are the characteristics between them, so one thing that they have really improved with the brand new model, is the design the first two budget models, to say that they were manufactured as cheaply as possible is a bit of an understatement.

It honestly feels like, that you can break them with one hand just by pressing on them, they really don’t have any additional ports or features on the device, just an HDMI, then a power plug-in, but they are budget models.

So it’s totally understandable, but that’s not the case with the new model, it has this really nice fabric top, it’s made of a super resistant high quality plastic, and even has additional ports such as an Ethernet and a USB, they also added this really cool lost remote control function, which is a really nice bonus.

The way I look at it, is that these two models are supposed to be hidden, they are not necessarily intended to stay there, where you can have this one in front of your TV.

And it would look pretty decent, it even has a few built-in LED lights.

Now, one area in which I expected the pro box to really stand out, is the operating system most of the time, the new models will have the option of running a newer version of Android.

Now these are Google TV devices, but they are basically an Android-based system, so because it was released a little earlier than when Android TV 14, was really announced, it is stuck with Android 12.

And the unfortunate part of these devices, is that they usually do not update their operating system, as they will regular updates, but they will not update the version.

So it seems that the pro model, is going to be stuck on Android TV2, just like these two that I don’t want to distort, it’s not a bad thing Android 12 is perfectly fine.

But this simply means, that you don’t get the advantage over the more expensive model of an operating system, updated unless of course they decide to push it.

Now I think the price is where I can really start talking a little more about my opinions, these devices have a very close but very distant price, at the same time.

You have the stick that comes in at 4.99, you have the 4K a streaming box that costs $1,199.99, and then you have a 2 and a half year price increase, to $50 for the pro box.

This is where things get easy, I think, between the 4K box, and the streaming stick, some of you won’t like it, but this thing is useless okay.

There is no reason to ever buy this, on the 4K streaming box unless you really need the built-in HDMI port, which I think is more inconvenient.

This gives one more thing that can go wrong it is $ 5 cheaper, for half a gigabyte of RAM, less and an overall slower device.

And I think most people, who buy a streaming device can afford the extra $5, to upgrade.

Now, I think the most difficult question, is which of these boxes really gives you more value, and it becomes a little more difficult to answer.

You have one that costs almost 2 and 1/2 times more, and you have one that is not very well made, but still does damn well, its job and in this case.

Conclusion :

I really just came to the conclusion, that this cheaper 4K box, is just the best value.

I have been using the ONN Pro box for some time and in terms of performance it is very difficult to tell the difference between the two.

Now this one works a little smoother, and you do get this extended storage however, I don’t know, if this extended storage makes it 2 and a half times more valuable than the simple normal box.

And frankly, if you just don’t care about the appearance of the device, and you just want to be able to throw it away, and start streaming for 20 dollars regular price, and I think it goes on sale for 15 all the time.

You really can’t beat this kind of value, and this is coming from someone who has spent a lot of time on this device.

But I will admit that despite two of them breaking early on me, it resists over time.

Now if you are feeling a little candle, and you feel that you need the rangefinder, you need the USB port, maybe you need the Ethernet port, because you can’t get a good Wi-Fi connection.

So this is really the only de facto option, when we talk about this branded device, I think that one thing that ONN could do in the future, is maybe to propose a price of $ 30.

Maybe to make this one a little better, just for $10 more, add an Ethernet port, add a USB port, and just make it a budget device, but just a little less budget, I think okay.

Now you have bought one, but you want to know more about it, either how to add a pointer mouse to your remote control, how to install third-party applications, how to access the developer options, so that you can do even more with your device.

It’s actually not that difficult, but I’ve made it even easier, by creating complete learning modules integrated on my website, just head to the menu category, find learning guides it will take you to categories, where you can learn everything from setting up the downloader, to setting up your device for the first time, and even some advanced tips.
