IPTV : Test of Z11 Pro Max Formuler :

 iptv-formular-Z11-promax-test

The first time I tested a formulation box on the channel was the Z8 model,at the time, it was an effective device for IPTV.
Since then, Formuler has ended up integrating DRM level 1 into its TV boxes, better video decoding capabilities, wider support for audio formats and more power.

Formuler Z11 Pro Max ( Box IPTV ) :

Today I’m going to tell you what I thought of the Formula Z11 Pro Max, the most powerful case of the brand.

In the package, we will find an HDMI cable, the mains power supply, it is 12V 1A 12W, a silicone protection for the remote control, two AA batteries, the IPTV type remote control, so very complete for this use.

With numbers, shortcuts to certain functions for the My TV Online 3 application, but also certain keys that can be assigned to functions or applications.

It works very well, there is just a small weight distribution problem because of the batteries. This is the infrared Bluetooth plus model, we also have a microphone with built-in voice control.

We have user guides and so we have the formulation box. It adopts a square design with dimensions of 105x105x21mm. It is black in color. On the front there is an LED, red, the box is off, white, the box is on. On the right side we have a USB 3,0 port.

On the back, we find a Gigabit Ethernet port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB 2.0 port, a micro SD card slot, an infrared port, this is for the other model with the infrared remote control, and the power outlet. Finally, on the bottom, there are several holes for the ventilation of the device, pads in the corners for the grip and two fasteners to hold the device on a support.

At the first start, you will need to pair the remote control, then You will need to make some settings, then after a few minutes the device will be ready for use.

The Formuler Z11 Pro Max runs on Android 11, the interface is very simple visually, It reminds a little of what the Android TV 7 interface looked like, It’s starting to get a little old.
We have one or two rows of thumbnails that represent the applications that we have installed or that are installed as standard.

You can, if you wish, add additional lines, and even add a line with hidden applications, accessible by code.

The thumbnails are not dynamic, that is to say that there will not be the content of the different applications that will be displayed depending on when you use your device, it will always be the same image representing the application.

There is an exception to what I have just said, it is for the My TV Online 3 application, the home IPTV application, which will be able to display dynamic content directly on the interface.

So, you will see, for example, thumbnails depicting TV channels.

To install applications, several solutions are available to us. The Android TV Play Store, you heard it right, Android TV.

We are on an Android device, but we have an Android TV Play Store. I find this very convenient.

This is not the first device to offer this, and I think it should be the case more often on Android boxes.
This allows you to benefit from applications specially optimized for use as a remote control on a TV.
Otherwise, we also have the Formuler marketplace, this will allow you to find compatible or optimized applications for formuler devices.

This allows you to avoid searching for the correct versions of the applications to be installed.
Finally, if not, it is also possible to download APK files to install Android applications directly.

Be careful with Android applications, they were originally created for touchscreens, so it can be a little more complicated to control. But there is a small function that can be positioned on a small button on the remote control that will allow a mouse cursor to appear on the screen to move more easily in these applications. And you can create a network mount.

So you are connecting a network drive. we may find the interface not very modern, I understand that, but it remains a functional interface.

You want to access the content of an application, you have the thumbnail of the application, you click, you get there. Simple, effective.

You won’t have a big blindfold hiding the screen from you, videos that launch by themselves, nothing.
There is no advertising, mobile devices are devices that are always securely locked.

You won’t be able to do what you want with it. You can’t install Linux systems on it, other systems, and you can’t even install other launchers.

The big advantage of the brand’s boxes, and the reason why people buy them, is the home IPTV playlist application. It’s called MyTV Online, it’s version 3 in this case, diminutive MOL3, it’s one of the best IPTV applications.

This was already the case for version 2, and version 3 improves all this even more, and brings welcome new features, some of which were long overdue.

Now you can add multiple IPTV playlists, it was not possible on MOL2, now we can do it. On the other hand, there is a limitation, it is that unlike other IPTV applications such as Timate, we will not be able to sort them and select the ones we want to use.

When you are on the program guide, what we call the EPG, all you have to do is position yourself on a program, press the green button on the remote control to add the program in question to your watchlist.

Simple and practical for large television consumers. The automatic display of the frequency adjustment to the frame rate of the content you are currently watching is always present. This time we can choose to activate it individually for VOD, for TV series and for TV channels. So one or the other, or even two out of three.

We also have the possibility of using external drives, If for example, you want to watch a movie through an application that is more efficient in decoding, we can do it. We still have the TimeShift function.

You will need to use external storage. This will allow us to have control over the live broadcast, pause, play, return to a live program.

You can customize the color of the theme, but since it is basic, it is already very successful.

We have a pinning function to pin the groups to the top of the list.

This allows you to avoid searching for them among all this content. We also have a universal search to easily and quickly find all the content you want in the playlist.
We have a new notification system, the ability to backup and restore your configuration, watch two events at the same time or watch one and record the other.

The VOD part is not left out. You can quickly access a lot of information about the videos and the dust jacket wall is really very nice visually.

The Formuler Z11 Pro Max is equipped with a Realtek RTD1319C processor. The CPU part is higher than that of the previous generation Z10 Pro.

The processor is greatly helped in this by the simple and not overloaded interface. Applications take a little while to start the first time, but this is normal.

And once opened and in memory, they will restart very quickly next time. The application exits are also done without a hitch. Some applications that are a little heavy can cause slowdowns.
But other than that, for IPTV with MP3, video streaming or browsing the interface, the Z11 Pro Max will be quite fluid and pleasant to use.

For several years now, Formuler has integrated DRM Level 1 into their devices and they have done well.

This will therefore allow us to view the content of some popular applications from video streaming platforms up to 4K,For Prime Video, we will be limited to Full HD 1080p.

As I often say, on modern TVs we have already installed all these video streaming applications.
The Z11 Pro Max decodes the most popular video formats, including the Open Source AV1 codec.

It supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG technologies to extend the dynamic range of the image. No Dolby Vision, unfortunately, and that’s a shame, especially since even many TV boxes from small brands integrate it.

I was able to play all my 1080p and 4K files smoothly without any problems, thanks to the autoframerate, whether from a hard drive or via a network.

On the other hand, the 8K did not work, or very badly. Regarding the audio part, it still worked well on this Z11 Pro Max, as on the older generation.

I was able to get all the popular cinema audio formats, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+, Dolby Digital+ Atmos, TrueHD, Lossless Atmos, DTS, DTS-HD and DTS-X, the total.

There are not many devices that offer it. You can also control the volume and turn your TV and audio amplifier on and off with the infrared remote control, and that’s pretty cool.

The GPU integrated into the Z11 Pro Max is a Mali G57 MC1. This still allows us to play many Android games or Android TV with decent graphics, shall we say.

For the most demanding games, it will be less detailed and for some really recent and demanding big games, we won’t even be able to play them.

As for emulation, we will be able to play many games up to the N64, the Dreamcast, the PSP.Overall, it will be very decent, but you can’t play PS2 or Gamecube. Finally, I tested the Cloud Gaming via GeForce Now.

I tested via Wi-Fi and wired connection and unfortunately, I always ended up having blockages. The game freezes, I have to restart. Sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after 5-10 minutes. But it was not manageable over time for me.

Regarding connectivity, it is excellent since we find a Gigabit Ethernet connection, Wi-Fi 6 which allows, among other things, to have faster speeds than Wi-Fi 5, even if in my case, I was limited to Wi-Fi 5 because of my Internet box.

And finally, we have Bluetooth 5 to connect different devices. The device is sold in two different packs.
The first with the infrared remote control for 155 euros and the second with the Bluetooth + infrared remote control, which also integrates voice control for 165 euros. Suffice to say that for 10 euros more, it is better to go directly with this version.

Conclusion :

This Formuler Z11 Pro Max is a good device.

Of course, the price may seem a little high, but this includes one of the best IPTV playlist apps and a very complete remote control configured for its use.

However, the problem is still the same. The day I decide to upgrade to MyTV Online 4, You will have to change your device to benefit from the update.

And new features that go with it. Ask those who bought a Formuler Z10 a few weeks or months before the release of the Z11 what they think about it.

Many felt like they were being ripped off. Formuler’s activity is to sell its internal MyTV application online. You have to pay it again each time for each device and for each new major version. In terms of advantages, I noted that this is one of the best IPTV applications. This was already the case before, but it is even more the case now.

We have an ad-free and convenient interface, although it may seem a little outdated.

The device works well in audio and video playback. We have 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage and we have an automatic adjustment of the display frequency. For the negative aspect, for the disadvantages, I noticed an interface without dynamic content, except for the content of MOL3.
