iPhone 16 Pro Max vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra :
It’s finally that time of year when Apple launched the new iPhone 16 Pro Max, to face the Galaxy s24 Ultra and let’s just say that the bar has been raised, and that new surprise moves are being made, which will change this whole game of Apple against Samsung.
Let’s start with the price surprisingly, Apple has not raised the price at all this, puts them away from Samsung, because the iPhone 16 Pro series, starts at $ 11,000 with the pro Max costing $11,200, still $100 cheaper than the s24 ultra, which starts at $1,300.
The big difference this year, is that for the first time, you can get Apple’s best camera setup, including the 5x telephoto zoom on the iPhone 16 pro, at only $1,000, you don’t have to buy the 16 Pro Max, which Samsung doesn’t offer.
Because they only keep their best cameras exclusive to the Galaxy s24 Ultra, and this decision could be a problem for Samsung, in another surprise move.
Apple has also lowered the price of these phones in India, which makes the competition crazier than ever, but which one is the real flagship king.
Let’s start with the design over the past two years, Samsung and Apple have kept the same type of design language, for their high-end phones.
Flagship phones to the point where these two phones, are the most recognizable phones on the planet, you really can’t go wrong with one, or the other of them.
As for the top quality, but that being said, there are major fundamental differences, in real life that you should know as someone who has used the s24 ultra.
As well as the iPhone 15 Pro Max from last year, Samsung’s ultra square design, is very high-end, I love it.
But it’s definitely not as comfortable as a rounded phone, like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is not only thinner than last year’s s24 ultra, but also lighter than the s24 ultra.
Now, the big visual change in the design of the iPhone 16 series, is the new addition of the camera control button with this button, you can basically control your Zoom, change different modes, take photos and videos instantly, and you can use the camera control button, with third-party applications like Snapchat.
And even more and let’s not forget the action button, which is always present, you can map it to different functions compared to this Galaxy s24 Ultra, has the S pen.
And you can map some functions, to the S key, but yes Apple now has a dedicated camera control button that actually.
This seems very useful considering the quality, with which Apple has created this user interface, for this button.
Taking a look at the screen now, Samsung still has the brightest 2600 nich screen, compared to the same 2000 nich screen on the iPhone 16 Pro, and the pro Max, of course, you now have record glasses, it looks great, but there is still a dynamic island and compared to that.
Samsung offers a much cleaner design, of course, the ugliness of the dynamic island brings softer UI features, and very smart, in addition to getting a fairly asymmetrical face ID in this country, ugly so it’s not really a losing situation and honestly since the iPhone 14 pro series.
When they introduced the dynamic island for the first time, it made iPhones stand out in the sea of smartphones, which is still a big win for Apple, that being said.
I personally prefer Samsung’s cleaner look, on the front with the secure ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Now when it comes to performance, Apple has introduced the 18 Pro chip inside the iPhone 16 Pro series, which is now almost 20% powerful compared to the last generation, when it comes to GPU and CPU, with 2x faster tracing numbers.
While the s24 ultra packs the Snapdragon Agent 3 chip, which is still very powerful.
Apple may have the lead when it comes to the number of processors, but when it comes to the GPU, both phones should be in bar, the difference however is that Apple still has an advantage, when it comes to the appropriate AAA game titles, like Resident Evil 4 Assassin Creed Mirage Etc.
Even after a year, we haven’t seen any proper AAA game titles on Galax s24 Ultra now, another thing we haven’t seen on the s24 ultra, is a high megapixel Ultra wide angle upgrade, and it’s hard to believe it.
But Apple has already done it before Samsung, yes the iPhone 16 Pro and the pro Max, receives the new 48 mapel Ultra wi wide-angle lens, offering you more resolution and low-light performance, about twice better, compared to the Ultra wide-angle lens of the last generation.
Which gives the iPhone 16 Pro series the upper hand, as far as ultra wide angle shorts are concerned, compared to the s24 ultra, as far as the main sensor is concerned, we get pretty much the same 48 megapixel camera sensor with a few more upgrades from the ISP.
This sensor always takes in 24 M by default, so you will see more details compared to the photos, by default of 12 megapixels from Samsung, while both phones have a 5x telephoto zoom.
Samsung still offers the additional 3x telephoto zoom lens, for more flexibility while Samsung charges you $1,300, to get the best Apple camera setup, does the opposite and now offers the full range of pro Max cameras, on their standard pro model starting at only $1,000.
So if you don’t care about the extra screen size or the bigger battery, and you just want Apple’s best camera, and save about $300, compared to what the s24 ultra does, I think Apple has done a pretty good job when it comes to this offer.
Now we all know that the iPhone 16 Pro series just like the iPhone 15 Pro Series, will have the best video performance, on any phone.
And now it gets even better as we get 4k video at 120 FPS, with HDR PR res or log recording options, this is an extremely powerful professional video editing that can be a game changer for professional users.
Now, you can shoot in 4K at 120 FPS, with a wide and Ultra wide angle lens on the s24 ultra, but it’s not a Dolby Vision HDR, or a diary video like you can do on the iPhone.
So Apple is definitely doing everything possible, to bring a 4K video recording, at 120 FPS professional level.
Now s24 Ultra still has the 8K 30fps highr video recording option, which you don’t get on the iPhone 16 Pro series, can make a difference when used in a good lighting scenario.
But it seems that Apple will continue its lead, when it comes to video recording, with the iPhone 16 Pro series.
Now let’s move on to the software, it’s no longer Android vs iOS it’s Apple intelligence vs Samsung Galaxy AI, both of these phones offer amazing AI features, which can actually be very useful in everyday life, and they are all very similar.
Because both can offer you to write better emails, and messages using the right tools, that you can remove unwanted objects from your images.
While Apple has a brand new, smaller version of Siri, which can understand your question better than ever.
Samsung doesn’t have a big spe, but what they do have is Google Gemini which is just as powerful, if not more than the Apple powered series, as I said, these two AI softwares offer very similar features.
The point is that if you are based in Europe, you will not get Apple’s intelligence features, which is not a problem with Samsung, they offer Galaxy AI features, pretty much globally, although if you change regions you should be able to use the AI features again on iPhones made in Europe.
This is something that you will have to see in the Apple Store, but at the moment Samsung is offering these true global features, Galaxy I pretty much everywhere in the world.
While Apple is still working on bringing the features, as we see more software updates coming throughout this year and in 2025 overall, when it comes to AI experiences, you’re going to get really good intelligent software systems, on both phones.
Now, finally, regarding the size of the battery, Apple does not ship the largest battery size, with which they have ever hesitated their Pro Max, arrives at a 4600 mm cell.
While Samsung has a 5000 mm cell, on the s24 ultra fantastic battery life, on the s24 ultra certainly one of the best battery lives, on any phone, but with Apple bringing.
Now a larger battery size combined with the new second generation,n 3 NM Apple 18 Pro efficiency gains, we could actually see the iPhone 16 Pro Max coming out on top nothing to take away from the s24 ultra.
We are still going to have excellent autonomy on both phones, it’s just going to be very interesting to see how much difference the difference will be at the end of the day.
So with everything being considered in 2024, it seems that Apple is offering more value with less price if you look at the 16 Pro, giving you pretty much the best camera setup, at only $1,000.
Conclusion :
This is an advantage that Apple is going to have over Samsung, regardless of the market in which you are based, while Samsung retains its best camera configuration exclusive to the s24 ultra, which unfortunately we are not getting, on the s24 plus with this new camera strategy.
As well as a better Ultra wide angle lens, and the same price as last year’s model, this game is over for Samsung.
