It’s time to take a look at the new Dell xps 14, it includes the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor maybe I’ll connect it to this nice monitor.
Now let’s take a look at what comes in the box, the XPS 14 they also have an XPS 16 model if you are looking for a larger screen welcome to Dell, let’s see what else we get from the standard booklets looks like we also have, the charger that comes with a separate cable to plug into the wall outlet, the charging brick is not so big that it has a USB type c cable attached.
There are some specifications at 100 watts of charge, finally in the box you get this little adapter labeled Dell, removing the plastic really although this is included, you don’t always see that it is a USB type c adapter with this cable attached, so it is very easy to carry and turns it into a USB type a slot, and an HDMI port as well makes it a really practical adapter, and not too big.
It opened easily with one hand, it didn’t move at all from the bottom, so it’s great to see that it lights up, there is a piece of paper that we can peel off.
This is a really stylish laptop on the left side, you have two Thunderbolt 4 USB type c ports, and very interesting so you have an 8 watt quad speaker system.
So it is a speaker in this slot, but these two slots are actually a thermal socket, so they are not at the bottom, so since they are on the side, if you put it on a desk, maybe put it on a bed for some reason, you can still get a thermal socket.
So Dell was very aware of the thermals on this laptop.
There are two microphones, at the top of the lid, then moving along the same on this side speaker, two thermal jacks, then you have a Micro SD card slot, so some expandable storage, and another Thunderbolt 4 port, 4 USB type-c, and a headphone jack.
Now, the thermal socket on the side, and the heat will come out on the back, so just to give you an idea of how their thermal system works, so a look at the bottom, you have a complete socket along the top, and the bottom of the laptop.
And again, it is curved, so these are not on the actual bottom, so it will sit as well Stylish XPS logo, I want to point out that there is no notch with the lid closed.
When you go to open with one hand, it’s a little difficult to find that specific location to open it, but once you see it, it lights up right away inside, you have the Intel Core Ultra 71 155h processor, and just a quick close-up, there’s another of the speakers, so there’s the third speaker pointing at you.
A look at this keyboard with a very uniform appearance and our other speaker, you also notice that the row of functions, is actually capacitive touch buttons, and there is a reason for that.

It actually has Gorilla Glass on the surface and it has haptic feedback, which you know reminds me of a Macbook, which is not a bad thing at all, it’s actually a very good thing.
A few other remarkable things copilot button and another button which is a power button of the fingerprint scanner, just a quick moment to appreciate this laptop with a design, really elegant from Dell definitely hats off.
Let’s take a close look at this beautiful 14 1/2-inch Infinity edge screen, it’s a 3200×2000 resolution so 3.2 k not quite 4K, but it’s getting closer it’s an OLED screen, but they have a model with a lower resolution if you’re interested, get 100% of the DCI P3 color gamut, as with most laptops it’s an aspect ratio of 16 x 10, where you’ll notice a video of 169 has black bars it’s very standard, and what I’m looking for in a laptop, in case you were wondering, yes it is a touch screen, which is really great to have.
And I can already tell by scrolling that it is activated by default, it is a refresh rate of 120 HZ, the display looks very fluid, so if I go to the advanced display, you will notice choose a refresh rate, you can choose 120 HZ 60 HZ or dynamic.
So it’s going to change depending on the type of content being displayed, and here’s a great example of the copilot button what is the refresh rate let’s just do a quick search, where I don’t need to open a browser or anything, and it says that the refresh rate, is how your screen can display one frame per second and it’s measured in hertz, really nice to have for quick queries.
This laptop supports Windows, hello with the fingerprint scanner, but also facial recognition, let’s set that up, because there is actually a really cool feature, with this Windows.
You can automate automatically, ignore the lock screen if Windows recognizes your face, this is just an option, which brings us to the myell application where you can customize and configure a lot of different things, but for now I want to talk about presence detection so that it can detect, when you look away so that it darkens the display and saves energy move away from the lock.
Set the lock timer to 60 seconds, we’re going to do 30 seconds, then wake up on the approach when you approach, it can actually wake up your PC.
Now I want to go back to the hardware so first of all, the touchpad, you will notice that there are no lights or really no indication of where it starts, you can just reach the middle and it’s comfortable, I don’t necessarily need any advice or comments.

On the keyboard is a little more grippy than most laptops I use, it’s kind of a nice feeling to the touch with a little grip, but let’s do a quick audio test, so overall very uniform, it’s 1 mm of distance traveled.
So I would say that overall, it’s not my absolute favorite but not the least favorite by any means, I love the style and it’s comfortable to type on, it’s time to plug our XPS 14 into our Dell ultrasharp 40 curved Thunderbolt monitor, via a single cable, it will charge the laptop but also output video, and keep in mind that it’s a 5K resolution display.
Let’s go to the display settings and make sure we take full advantage of it, it’s duplicate, so if we show on one or two or extend the screens, and we can start enjoying this ultra-wide resolution, it seems incredible if we bring our video to the monitor, press Play, actually turn off the sound and go to full screen it’s not an ultra-wide video, but just watch.
And then if I go back, I can now control the screen, so again really nice via a single cable and I’ve been using this monitor for some time, I highly recommend it and let’s go press our escape key on the capacitive touch bar, which is quite interesting actually, I haven’t decided if I really like it.
I like it for the thermal reason, why they use it for you are going to have to somehow look before pressing, it will not be a type of muscle memory because there is no clear indication, and no difference.
